The collaboration GRAU by Timon Grau and Melchior Grau (*1990, 1991, Hamburg) explores the interrelation between humans and design. Dynamic sculptures and environments in art contexts and applied contexts, confront the viewer with openness for multiple and evolving perspectives. Following their mission to activate lives, GRAU focuses on the question what makes the human human.
Timon and Melchior Grau studied at the Berlin University of the Arts (class of Hito Steyerl and Ai Weiwei) and graduated from Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main (class of Willem de Rooij). Since 2018, they are also Creative Directors of the German Company Tobias Grau in Hamburg. Recently, they exhibited their work at Portikus, Frankfurt am Main; Shore Gallery, Vienna; Salone Del Mobile, Milan; M+B Gallery, Los Angeles; and saasfee Pavillon, Frankfurt am Main, among others.
